Actions and qualities: Antiseptic, anti-fungal, antibacterial, antiviral, antispasmodic, moisturizing,  and anti-inflammatory.

Specific uses: In a tea or tincture it is used as a uterine tonic and cure for gastritis. In a salve, poultice or bath it can be used to treat eczema, skin infections, sunburns and rashes. Petals make a beautiful addition to salads, desserts, and drinks.

Contraindications: Should be avoided by persons with allergies to flowers in the Asteraceae (daisy) family. Pregnant and nursing mothers should consult a physician before use.

History and lore: Associated with Halloween and the New Moon, it is known all over the world as a flower of protection from darkness.
