Actions and qualities: Antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral. It is often used to improve memory and concentration as well as to treat migraines. It also aids digestion, is anti-inflammatory, good for eye health, and stimulates hair growth.
Specific uses: Used as culinary herb fresh or dried, rosemary is also commonly added to cocktails, beers, and liqueurs. It makes a wonderful addition to teas, tinctures, oils, slaves, baths and poultices.
Contraindications: In large amounts it can cause intestine and liver damage, seizures, vomiting and even pulmonary edema. Rosemary should only be taken in small doses for short periods of time. Pregnant and nursing mothers and children should always consult a physician before use.
History and lore: It is believed to help ease nightmares, and is often burned as an incense for purification and protection.
